How Does Invisible Fence® Brand Technology Work

Radio Frequencies.


Invisible Fence® Brand uses digital radio frequencies to operate your system. It’s just like tuning in to your favorite satellite radio station. Digital signals are stronger and more reliable than AM/FM analog signals. So, your system stays up and running.


Control Panel.


The Control Panel broadcasts the signal, much like a radio station. It’s usually installed in a central but discreet location, like your garage.


Cable.


The digital radio signal from the Control Panel travels along an insulated cable buried around your property.


Signal Field.


A signal field is created on all sides of the buried cable, and represents your pet’s protective boundary. It’s created by the Control Panel, and is detected by your pet’s Computer Collar Receiver.


Computer Collar® Receiver.


Your pet wears the Computer Collar Receiver, which acts like a radio, picking up the digital signal transmitted by the Control Panel.


Static Correction.


When your pet’s Computer Collar Receiver crosses into the signal field, it first provides an audible warning tone, then provides a gentle static correction that reminds him he’s reached the limits of his boundary. The level of correction is customized to your pet, ensuring it stays at the right level. It’s a completely safe and effective way to reinforce your pet’s training.


Boundary Flags.



These little white flags help your pet remember the location of their boundary. As your pet’s behavior adapts, she’ll be able to recall the boundary without needing a visual cue.

  • How does Invisible Fence® Brand underground dog fence work?

    First, a wire is installed around the perimeter of your property, establishing your pet's Invisible Boundary® perimeter. A transmitter, usually placed in your basement or garage, sends a radio signal along the wire. The radio signal is picked up by your pet's Computer Collar, which emits a warning sound when your pet approaches the Invisible Boundary.

     

    Proper training is critical to ensure that your pet understands and stays within the established boundaries. That is why we create our Perfect Start Plus Training Program. During the training process, your professional certified Pet Trainer will introduce the customized static correction to your pet which reinforces the boundaries of your property and tells your pet clearly where they can and cannot go.   • Is static correction humane for pets?

    Yes. While the correction from a Computer Collar Receiver may be uncomfortable and startling to your pet, it will not hurt them. Many pets only feel the correction once or twice and don't challenge the system afterwards.

     

    It is important to note that we have thousands of different customizable corrections and the correction used is based on the personality of your pet, not the size or breed. The static correction from a Computer Collar Receiver is similar to the sensation you feel when you run your hand across a TV screen or when you walk across a carpet and touch a metal doorknob. The sensation momentarily surprises you and gets your attention.

  • Do Invisible Fence® Brand systems work for cats?

    Yes! Cats can be successfully trained to use the Invisible Fence® Brand system, both outdoors and indoors. Our featherweight MicroLite Computer Collar Receiver is the smallest and most advanced collar available. Weighing in at just one ounce, it’s easily worn by cats.

  • How big is our electric dog collar?

    Our MicroLite Computer Collar unit is so small it only weighs 1 ounce. Measurements are approximately 1.75" wide x 1" tall x 1" deep.

  • Is Invisible Fence® Brand safe for pregnant or nursing cats/dogs?

    Yes, your Invisible Fence® Brand solution is completely safe to use with pregnant and nursing pets. In more than 50 years we have found no evidence that suggests an Invisible Fence® Brand system produces detrimental effects for a pregnant pet. We have had veterinary reports of many pregnant pets, pets in season, and pets conceiving while on the Invisible Fence® Brand system. In the best interest of the pet, we will always advise that each owner check with their veterinarian if they have concerns regarding containment.
